Ex-Pats QB Signs With Cards

The Cardinals have signed ex-Patriots QB Rohan Davey to a one year contract. He will not start this week though, as QB Josh McCown will get the nod in QB Kurt Warner's injury absence.

Saints RB To Miss A Few Weeks

Saints RB and KR Aaron Stecker is expected to miss several week with an ankle sprain. RB Fred McAfee and WR Donte Stallworth are expected to handle the return duties in Stecker's absence.

Jets QB Woes

Inaddition to losing QB Chad Pennington for the season, the Jets will also be without QB Jay Fiedler for the season. That leaves the team with only Qb Brooks Bollinger as their only healthy QB.

Now starts the revolving list of names. QBs such as Vinny Testaverde are being mentioned, as is QB Brock Berlin, who was cut by the Jets in the preseason.

The NFL Network is reporting that Jet QB Chad Pennington will miss the remainder of the '05 season with a rotator cuff injury to his throwing shoulder. This is the same injury that limited Pennington last season

For the Bills Takeo Spikes will miss the reaminder of the year with an achilles injury and while the Patriots have not disclosed the severity of the injury to Rodney Harrison it is believed to be ACL related and could also cost him the season as well

Warner to Miss Time

Cardinal QB Kurt Warner had his groin injured in Sundays game and did not return to action. To be optimistic Warner will at the minimum miss this weeks game but it could be longer once all tests have been completed. For the immediate future backup QB Josh McNown will be the teams starter.

Jaguar RB Fred Taylor has faced the NY Jets (this weeks opponent) twice in his career but has had good results. Taylor has rushed the ball 52 times for 261 for a 5 yard per carry average and a TD.

With the trade rumors concerning Michael Bennett swirling overhead plus the fact that he was pulled from the game in week 2 expect Mewelde Moore to get most of the carries this week. Moore has been working with the first team offense this week in practice.

Coaches On The Hot Seat

Anyone taking bets on who the first NFL head coach to be fired will be? As of now it appears that Houston's Dom Capers and Mike Tice from Minnesota are well ahead of the pack. Caper's Texans are showing little if no improvement from last season, and seemed to have regressed on offense, hence the firing of offensive coordinator Chris Palmer. Meanwhile, Tice's tenure with the Vikings has always had its share of drama, so another couple of losses would make his dismissal a forgone conclusion. Stay tuned.

The Baltimore Ravens have re-signed wide receiver Patrick Johnson to an undisclosed contract, while the Denver Broncos have re-signed running back Quentin Griffin. Terms of his deal were not disclosed either.

Akers Injures Hamstring

David Akers K Philadelphia injured his right hamstring during the game Sunday with the 49ers. Akers was replaced by linebacker Mark Simoneau to kick an extra point and then by TE Mike Bartrum for the following kick off. Akers then returned and finished the game.

Nate Burleson WR Minnesota was forced out of the game with a sprained ankle. Burleson caught 3 balls for 48 yards before his injury. More on the injury as we get word.
