Packers Ship Walker To Broncos

Javon Walker WR Green Bay was traded to the Denver Broncos for a second round pick in the NFL Draft. Walker was in his final year of his contract with the Packers and was demanding a trade.

FIV 4 Walker is coming off an injury but he should have the opportunity to become the # 1 receiver for the Broncos.

Saints Grab Stud In Draft

The Saints were given a present by being allowed to select Rb Reggie Bush in today's NFL Draft. He should be an all around back for the Saints. The stock on RB Deuce McAllister is certain to drop with the drafting of Bush.

Saints Sign Martin To Back Up Brees

Jamie Martin QB Rams was signed by the New Orleans Saints to back up recently signed QB Drew Brees. The contract is for 2 years and New Orleans becomes the 6th team to sign the 12 year veteran Martin. Martin has played with Cleveland, the NY Jets, Jacksonville, Washington and the Rams.

FVI 1 Martin is a perennial back up QB. Due to the Rams injury woes last season Martin started 5 games for St. Louis. He only started 1 game in his previous 11 seasons. If Brees is not fully recovered Martin will start the season at QB. If this happens his value would be higher. The Saints also have QB Todd Bouman on the roster.

Onterrio Smith RB Minnesota was released by the Vikings according to the AP. Smith was still under suspension by
the NFL for substance abuse and using the infamous Whizzinator.

Williams Suspended For 2006

Ricky Williams RB Miami will be suspended for the 2006 season for substance abuse. Williams appeal was denied by the NFL and his suspension was upheld according to ESPN.com. This should raise RB Ronnie Brown's stock as he won't be sharing duties with Williams in 2006.

Favre Will Return To The Pack In 2006

Brett Favre QB Green Bay will return in 2006 to play his 16th season with the Packers.

Saints Re-Sign TE

The Saints have re-signed TE Zach Hilton to a one year contract. Hilton should produce some decent TE fantasy numbers in 2006 after a relatively productive last quarter of 2005.

FVI 2 There are much worse choices than Hilton for a TE 1 or 2.

Niners Re-Sign QB, Sign K

The 49ers have re-signed QB Ken Dorsey and signed K Andrew Jacas.

FVI 0 Jacas will not make the team unless he is a kickoff specialist, and Dorsey will produce negligible, if any, fantasy numbers.

IDP News - Giants Sign LB

LB LaVar Arrington has signed a 7 year contract worth up to 49 million dollars with the Giants. The deal includes a 5.25 million dollar signing bonus, and the contract is heavily incentive laden.

Jets RB Injured In Car Accident

Jets RB Cedric Houston was injured in a car accident. He suffered some cuts and bruises, and expected to be sidelined from football activity for 2 to 4 weeks.

Bucs Sign FB

The Bucs have signed former Jet FB Jerald Sowell. Terms were not disclosed.

FVI 1 Sowell provides no fantasy value, except for RB1 Cadillac Williams, who should have a good blocking corps of Sowell and FB Mike alstott.

Bengals And Wright Agree To Deal

Anthony Wright QB FA agreed to a 1 year deal with the Cincinnati Bengals.

FIV 1 Wright will only play if Palmer goes down and maybe not even then.

Three Teams Vying For Harrington

There are currently three teams vying for the services of Lions QB Joey Harrington. They are Denver, Miami, and Kansas City. A deal is expected to be in place for Harrington withing the next several days.

Broncos/49ers Make Trade

The Broncos have traded their 22nd pick in the NFL Draft to the 49ers for the 37th pick in the 2nd round and the 68th pick in the 3rd round. The Broncos have seven picks in the first four rounds and the 49ers now have 2 picks in the first round. This trade appears to have helped both teams.

Intriguing Prospect Visits Miami

NCAA QB turned Athlete Michael Robinson visited with the Dolphins recently. Robinson is reported as being dreafted as a QB, S, or WR. He could be used in the same vein as Antwaan Randle-El and his predecessor, Kordell Stewart. Robinson is not expected to be drafted until the later rounds however. Expert Fantasy Football has Robinson going to the Saints in the 6th Round.

NFL Rumor Mill - Where Will Walker Land ?

There are reportedly three teams interested in Packers WR Javon Walker, and there is considerable speculation that there will be a deal in place for Walker before the NFL Draft on April 29-30. The Broncos, Egales and 49ers are the three teams said to be in the running for Walker, with the Broncos as the front runner. The Broncos have a plethora of draft picks and WR Ashlie Lelie available as trade bait to lure the Packers into sending Walker their way.

FVI 1 Smith is at best a WR5 on any fantasy team, and will be not even drafted except in the very deepest of drafts.

Raiders, Broncos Thinking Of Trading Up In Draft

The Raiders and Broncos are rumored to be trading up in the NFL draft to pick their coveted players. The Raiders are rumored to be longing for QB Matt Leinart, while the Broncos are coveting TE Vernon Davis. Both players are expected to be Top 10 picks.

Bengals Re-Sign FB

The Bengals have re-signed FB Jeremi Johnson to a six year contract, effectively locking up the FB for the remainder of his useful career.

FVI 1 Johnson gets a few opportunities for scores, but in no better than a fantasy RB4 for any team.

Packers Sign WR

The Packers have signed WR Leo Bookman to a one year contract.

FVI 0 The crew at EFF have never heard of Bookman before this article.

The eagles have announced the retirement of FB Jon Ritchie.

Patriots Possibly Looking For K Help In Draft

Although the Pats have signed K Martin Gramatica, there is speculation that the team could draft a K during the upcoming NFL Draft. The more obvious choices are Ohio State K Josh Huston and Memphis K Stephen Gostkowski.

Bengals Re-Sign RB

The Bengals have re-signed RB Kenny Watson to a one year contract.

FVI 1 Watson is a solid 3rd down back, but the majority of goalline rushes go to RB Rudi Johnson, although Watson usually catches a TD or 2 over the season.

Bills Sign WR

The Buffalo Bills have signed WR Peerless Price to a 4 year contract. Price was also courted by the Patriots, but the Pats were only willing to give Price a one year deal.

FVI 2 Price will probably be the WR2 for the Bills, but the team is pathetic and has trouble scoring, thereby limiting Price's end zone chances.

Is 3rd Time a Charm?

It looks more and more likely that either Vanderbilt QB Jay Cutler or USC QB Matt Leinart will be the Titans pick in the NFL Draft. Cutler visited with the team for a third time recently, and Leinart is a favorite of OC Norm Chow. EFF thinks that the Titans will draft Leinart, but the situation is worth watching.

Saints Re-Sign WR

The Saints have re-signed WR/KR Michael Lewis to a three year contract.

FVI - 1 Lewis could escalate to a 2 if he helps the Saints D-ST with a couple returns for TDs, and grabs a few cheap scores during the season.

Gramatica Signs With The Pats

Martin Gramatica K FA has signed with the New England Patriots as a possible replacement for K Adam Vinatieri, who left for Indy.
Gramatica has been injured and was out of the league last season. The Patriots will probably look to sign another kicker most likely a young kicker to compete with Gramatica.

FIV (Fantasy Impact Value) 3 + If Gramatica can return to his Automatica Form he will get plenty of scoring chances in New England. However if he is still plagued by injuries is worth would be practically nil.

Moulds Traded To The Texans

Eric Moulds WR Buffalo has been traded to the Houston Texans according to ESPN. Terms were undisclosed.

FIV (Fantasy Impact Value) 3+ Moulds joins a team on the rise. Playing opposite WR Andre Johnson is a positive and Moulds gets to start fresh. With the # 1 pick in the draft Houston is shaping up to be an offensive contender.

Moulds Close To Signing With Texans

Eric Moulds WR Buffalo is reportedly close to signing with the Texans. With the first pick in the draft expected to be RB Reggie Bush this could be a great pick up for Houston as QB David Carr will have 2 good receivers to throw to. Moulds would line up opposite of WR Andre Johnson.

Burleson Heading To The Great Northwest

The Minnesota Vikings failed to match the offer sheet the Seahawks terndered to restricted FA Nate Burleson making Burleson the number 2 man in Seattle. The Vikings will receive a 3rd round selection in this years draft as compensation.

FIV(Fantasy Impact Value):2.5..Burleson has yet to prove he can be a dependable receiver without other weapons taking the pressure away from him. While the Seahawks do possess Darrell Jackson on the opposite side knee problems seem to always haunt him which could vault more of the passing offense towards Burleson. The loss of Joe Jurevicious cannot be understated and Burleson will fail to match the toughness and dependability that Jurevicious provided.
