Although this has nothing to do with fantasy football, former NFL wide receiver Willie Gault set a world record in the Master's division of the 100 meters, clocking a time of 10.72 seconds, crushing the old record of 10.96 seconds set by Neville Hodge in 2001.

EFF News - June 26

It is possible that Bucs rookie QB Bruce Gradkowski could emerge as the team's QB2, with QB Luke McCown being sidelined for an indefinite period due to injury.

As if he didn't have enough problems, Steelers WR Santonio Holes is now nursing a nagging hamstring injury.

Reports are coming out of Jacksonville that WR Reggie Williams is now the team's WR2 and WR Ernest Wilford is WR3.

It appears as though the RB1 job in Minnesota is wide open, with RBs Chester Taylor, Mewelde Moore andCiatrick Fason all vying for the job.

Redskins RB Ladell Betts might see some extra reps this season as RB1 Clinton Portis is not expected to carry the huge load he has had to bear in recent years.

Redskins WR Taylor Jacobs is expected not to make the team's final roster.

Chiefs RB Dee Brown is the front runner to be RB2 in Kansas City in the event that RB Priest Holmes is not able to play in 2006. Brown has outplayed RB Quinton Griffin thusfar.

The Browns might use a number of two TE sets in 2006, giving both TEs Kellen Winslow Jr. and Steve Heiden more time on the field.

Former 49ers WR PJ Fleck might catch on with the Bears.

Until WR Braylon Edwards returns, WR Frisman Jackson is penciled in as the Browns WR3.

Raiders RB Justin Fargas might have an expanded role with the Raiders in 2006.

Faulk Appears To be Done

Once a grear fantasy football player and more than certainly an NFL Hall of Famer, Rams RB Marshall Faulk's career might be over. He might have to have another knee surgery, which will land him on the IR for the 2006 season. Additionally, he is not sounding like a player with a desire to get things done in the NFL. However, he did tell Sports Illustrated than he plans on playing in 2006. Inany event, with RB Tony Fisher in St. Louis, Faulk's role could be diminished even further. In fantasy circles, team's should stay away from Faulk.

The Next Great TE?

Keep an eye on Patriot TE Ben Watson as training camp opens. The team has been so impressed with his off season workouts that he could emerge as the teams primary receiving option. Watson has the speed and the size to pose matchup problems for anyone whop tries to defend him. The Raiders have named QB Andrew Walter as QB2 for now.

The Titans will probably use WR Bobby Wade to return punts, giving him some extra touches.

The Packers are status quo at TE with Bubba Franks, David Martin and Donald Lee as TEs 1-2-3 respectively.

The Chiefs are reportedly going to start the season with only 4 WRs on their roster.

It appears as though Packers QB Ingle Martin will be the team's QB3.

McCown To Have Surgery

Bus QB Luke McCown will have surgery on his knee and will miss the beginning of the season on the best side. ACL injuries are tough to guage, and McCown will probably not be a factor at all in the 2006 season.

Well, it looks as though Steelers WR Santonio Holmes is in trouble with the law again. He was arrested over the weekend on charges of Domestic Violence.

EFF Quick Hits - June 19

It appears as though TE Kellen Winslow Jr. is fully recovered from his injuries over the last two seasons, and is primed to become a Top 5 fantasy TE.

Redskins QB Mark Brunell is set to have a splint on his broken finger removed this week, and will begin practicing to keep his spot as the Skins QB 1 from being in jeopardy.

The Titans are interested in signing QB Kerry Collins to compete with QB Billy Volek until QB Vince Young is ready to step up and become the player everyone is hoping for.

The Falcons are reportedly not happy with K's Zac Derr and Tony Yelk, and are considering the return of K Todd Peterson.

There is a slim chance that QB Vinny Testaderve qill be making it back to the NFL for another season, this time with the Browns.

WR Aaron Moorehead is currently the WR4 for the Colts, which should provide more scoring opportunities than some WR2's on other teams.

WR David Givens is expected to jump over WR Drew Bennett and become WR1 for the Titans.

WR Nate Burleson appears to be poised for a big season for the Seahawks.

Bengals QB Carson Palmer is way ahead of schedule for his rehab, and his return for the start of the season appears to be imminent.

Jets QB Patrick Ramsay is in danger of getting cut from the team.

Posted by joe at 8:37 AM

From The Bengals Camp

It appears as though WR Chad Johnson has no ill effects from his strained groin he suffered last week.

WR Reggie McNeal is showing versatile skills in the Antwaan Randle-El mold, which will, if he can showcase them admirably, solidify a spot on the team.

Posted by joe at 8:33 AM

EFF Quick Hits

Bengals WR Chad Johnson pulled a groin muscle in practice and was carted off of the field. The injury is not thought to be serious.

WR Matt Jones is currently WR1 on the team's depth chart. WR Reggie Williams and WR Ernest Wilford are currently WR2 and WR3, respectively.

Titans WR Tyrone Calico strained a calf muscle in practice. This is just another in a long list of injuries to Calico. Any wise fantasy owner should have a big red STAY AWAY note written next to his name.

QB2 is a bit unclear in Indianapolis. QB2 Jim Sorgi has some soreness in his throwing arm, and has been sidelined for more than a month. The most logical replacement for Sorgi is QB Shaun King, who was recently signed.

There are big changes in Detroit. WR Mike Williams is currently WR5 on the team, and RB Artose Pinner is reported to be on his last leg with the team.

Bucs QB Luke McCown injured his knee on Wednesday. The severity of his injury is currently unknown.

Titans WR Jonathan Orr injured his shoulder and is not expected to practice again until training camp at the earliest.

The Texans are still trying to acquire RB Michael Bennett from the Saints.

In a hotly watched contest, it appears as though K Steve Gostkowski is a bit ahead of K Martin Gramatica for the Patriots kicking job.

Reports from Tennessee are that RB LenDale White is just about ready to perform drills at full speed.

QB Vince Young has fit right into the Titans locker room, as he is now using QB Steve McNairs old locker.

There is still no clear cut starter at QB for the Bills.

RB Laurence Maroney and WR Chad Jackson are shining stars at the Patriots camp. Both could be real fantasy studs this year. It also appears as though QB Matt Cassell will be QB2 for the Pats.

Jets QB1 is up for grabs with Chad Pennington and Patrick Ramsay emerging as the front runners. QBs Brooks Bollineger and rookie Kellen Clemens also stand a shot at the QB1 job.

Browns RB Reuben Droughns is still reported to be RB1 for the team going into camp.

With WR Chris Henry falling from grace with the Bengals due to his extra curricular activities, and WRs Tab Perry and Kelley Washington the only other legitimate WRs with a shot at WR3, WR Antonio Chatman has emerged as the front runner for the WR3 job for the present.

EFF Take: We think that fantasy owners will be wise to draft Henry with the belief that he will produce for the Bengals as WR3 in 2006. The others are just pretending to have talent.

Rams RB To Retire?

With a dwindling amount of playing time and sore knees, Rams RB Marshall Faulk is considering retirement.

We here at EFF believe that Marshall will try to get through mini camp and if he feels OK, he will pound out one more season and retire on his own terms. In any event, the once great fantasy RB will be nothing more than insurance for Rams RB1 Stephen Jackson.

EFF Update: Roethlisberger in serious yet stable condition

As reported yesterday, Pittsburg Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger was invovled in an accident yesterday while driving his motorcycle. A vehicle attempted to make a left hand turn and cut Roethlisberger off, causing him to flip over the handlebars and smash into the drivers' windshield. Roethlisberger was rushed to the hospital, where he underwent seven hours of surgery to repair multiple facial fractures, including chipped and missing teeth. Contrary to earlier rumors, Roethlisberger did not sustain any injuries other than to his face (there were concerns about his knee), and according to the surgeons, there did not appear to be any other injuries to his brain, spine, chest, back or any other part of his body. Steelers officials were cautiously optomistic that Ben would be ready to go at the start of training camp in 7 weeks. If he does miss any time, then he could be docked salary and signing bonus money similar to Kellen Winslow, Jr. last year. His loss would leave Charlie Batch as the starter, with rookie Omar Jacobs the only other quarterback. That would lead to the probable resigning of Tommy Maddox. By the way, Roethlisberger was not wearing a helmet.

EFF Breaking News: Roethlisberger Hurt

Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger was involved in a motorcycle accident in Pittsburgh. According to witnesses, Roethlisberger was groggy and bleeding from the head after the accident. Roethlisberger was transpoorted to Mercy Hospital, and although there is no word yet on the extent of his injuries, none of Roethlisberger's injuries appear to be life threatening.

EFF Take: Certainly, our first thoughts go out to the Roethlisberger family, and we hope that his health will be fine. On a back burner, this situation bears watching, as Big Ben is a QB in the Tom Brady mold, and will certainly be some team's fantasy starter in 2006.

The Titans have agreed to trade QB Steve McNair to the Ravens, contingent upon his passing a physical with the Ravens. Terms of the trade have not yet been agreed upon.
