December 31, 2006EFF Instant Impact PlayerVince Young has been a starter in the NFL for a total of 12 games and already has had 3 4th quarter come from behind victories and 1 OT win as well. For all that was said about Young coming into the season the guy has proven he is a winner and has the uncanny ability to rally the team around him. The Titans are on a 6 game winning streak and if a lot of things fall in their favor may be in the post season that noone expected. Young is a must play this week especially with the Patriots playoff picture set and their possible reluctance to play their starters for the entire game.

EFF Three to Avoid!Tony Romo-(QB--Dallas Cowboys) The NFL Golden Boy has been up and down of late and for a Dallas team heading into the playoffs could spell trouble. Romo is 2-2 over his last 4 games with both losses coming when he has failed to complete at least 50% of his passes. Romo has 4 TD's but has thrown for 7 INT's in those games so in today's game v. the Lions, Romo needs to re-establish his earlier play and re-gain some of his confidence he has lost of late. Chester Taylor-(RB--Minnesota Vikings)Taylor and the Vikings have been an offense that has struggled all season to score points. In 9 of the 14 games that Taylor has played he has failed to average 4YPC. In his kast 2 games Taylor has rushed for only 87 yards combined and has not scored a TD since week 12. Once a key contributor to the passing offense( 37 receptions in his first 11 games), Taylor has had only 4 receptions for 20 yards in his last 3 games. Anquan Boldin-(WR--Arizona Cardinals)While Boldin was a favorite target of Kurt Warner he has not had that same magic with Matt Leinart at the helm. Over his last 9 games Boldin has had only 1 TD and has also only had only a single 100+ yard receiving game. Over his last 4 games Boldin's receiving totals have been 64,60,47 and 32 yards....not a good trend for Fantasy Teams in their Super Bowls.

EFF-Three That are Hot!Jay Cutler-(QB--Denver Broncos)....The only mistake with naming Cutler the starting QB is that the team may have waited too late in the season to do so.Cutler has looked more and more comfortable as each week passes and through it all has thrown for at least 2 TD's in each of his 4 games started. Cutler has a 2:1 TD/INT rate and has a QB rating on the season of 89.8. In a game v. the 49ers that has playoff implications for the Broncos, Cutler should be able to feast on the pourous secondary of San Fransisco Ron Dayne-(RB--Houston Texans)...Dayne over his last 4 games seems to have separated himself from the other RB's on the Texans roater as the league back heading into next season. In his last 4, Dayne has rushed for 429 yards(4.8YPC) and 5 TD's. With his 153 yard performance in week 16 Dayne recorded his first 100+ yard game since week 3 of the '01 season: a span of 92 games. Lee Evans-(WR--Buffalo Bills)....Not since Andre Reed of a decade ago have the Bills had a WR that has been this reliable on a consistent basis. Evans has become the main target for the Bills and QB JP Losman and has been on a roll of late. In His last 3 games Evans has 10 receptions for 222 yards and a TD in each of those 3 games. For the season Evans now has 7 TD's and a 15.3 YPC.
