Bear Rookie TE Greg Olsen injured his knee in their final pre-season game on Thursday. While the injury does not seem too serious it appears as if Olsen could miss 2-3 weeks of action

QB Shakeup In Jacksonville

ESPN is reporting that the Jaguars will announce later today that QB David Garrard not Byron Leftwich will be the teams starting QB heading into week 1. Leftwich will either be traded or given his out right release.

Seahawks/Redskins Talking Trade

The Seattle Seahawks have contacted the Washington Redskins about a possible Marc Brunell trade. The Seahawks want a true backup to Matt Hasselback so that Seneca Wallace could be used in the mold of a young Kordell Stewart. Brunell would relieve Hasselback for a game or two but if Hasselback were to miss any significant time as he did last year Wallace would then assume the starters role. The Seahawks were also interested in Kelly Holcomb but he was traded to the Vikings so they began to look elsewhere. If the trade is made it would be a homecoming of sorts for Brunell who starred at Washington in the early 90'2 as well as uniting him with Mike Holgrem, who drafted Brunell when he was with the Green bay Packers.

Redskins IR RB

The Redskins have placed RB Derrick Blaylock on the Injured Reserve list, ending his season for 2007.

Lions RB Situation

It looks like Lions RB Kevin Jones will begin the season on the PUP List, putting him out of action for 6 weeks. Rb Tatum Bell should be the team's starting RB for the first five games, making him a solid option at RB.

Bengals WR Out Indefinitely

Bengals WR Antonio Chatman is out indefinitely with a hmastring injury, putting his chances of making the team less likely. Do not draft him if you are thinking about it.

Packers Starting Week 1 RB?

With RBs Vernand Morency and Brandon Jackson both banged up, the Packers might be forced to go with RBs Noah Herron, DeShaun Wynn and Corey White at RB1. In any case, if any of them has a good game, don't go out and pick them up on the waiver wire as they will be back on the bench when Morency and Jackson are healthy.

Who Will The Bucs Cut?

While many are thinking that the Bucs will cut QB Chris Simms, there are many, including us at EFF, that think that QB Luke McCown will get cut.

Dunn Or Norwood?

While it looks like RB Warrick Dunn has won the RB1 job for the Falcons, RB Jerious Norwood might be the better pick. He is younger, and appears to be healthier. Take Norwood if both of them are on the board for your Fantasy Draft.

Kicker Hurt

Bengals Kicker Shayne Graham suffered a hip pointer on Monday, and although the injury is reported to be not very severe, it would be safe to draft elsewhere and hope to get Graham as a solid steal as a K2 if you are lucky.

Vikes Aquire Holcomb

As earlier speculated the Vikings have made it official and have traded for Eagle QB Kelly Holcomb. The Vikings gave the Eagles their 6th round pick in the '08 draft to obtain him. In a related move the Vikings have released QB Drew Henson

Teams Pursuing Holcomb

Expect to see the Eagles trade veteran QB Kelly Holcomb within the few days as at least two teams,the Vikings and Falcons,have a real need for a solid NFL play caller.The Vikings have been going with Brooks Bollinger in hopes of him winning the backup spot to Tavaris Jackson but he has been a disaster to this point. And in Atlanta with inconsistent Joey Harrington being the starter there is a real need for a quality backup if and when Harington does stumble.

Our best guess here is that Holcomb ends up a Viking. The Vikings have a solid running game with Chester Taylor and rookie Adrian Peterson behind a very solid offensive line. In the event that Jackson shows he still is not ready for the NFL opposing teams may fore go any threat of a passing game and stuff as many as possible to stop the Vikings run game. Holcomb has at least shown some competence in a passing offense and in a fairly soft NFC the Vikings may feel tthey have a good shot at a wild card berth with any production at the QB position

Recently released Packer WR Robert Ferguson will sign with the Minnesota Vikings. It was rumored that he may sign with the Texans and re-unite with ex coach Mike Sherman but the chances of him being anymore than the 3rd WR behind Andre Johnson and Andre Davis played a huge role in his decision. In Minnesota he may have more than a fighting chance to become the #1 man in the Viking passing game.As of now Billy McMullen and Troy Williamson are the teams starters and rookie Sydney Rice and ex-Titan Bobby Wade are also in the mix.

Johnson, Chiefs agree to extension

The Kansas City Chiefs and holdout running back Larry Johnson have agree on a five year contract extension through the year 2012. Johnson was on the practice field for the Chiefs on Tuesday.

FOXSports is reporting that the Cleveland Browns and QB Brady Quinn have agreed on a 5 year contract with 7.75 million in guaranteed money. If Quinn reaches all his bonus' the deal could be worth as much as 30 million. Quinn is in route from Arizona where he has been working out to sign the deal.

It looks like Chiefs WR Chris Hannon is the team's current WR3. This will probably change when WR Dwayne Bowe arrives in camp and gets some time under his belt.

WR2 In Carolina?

As of now, WR Drew Carter is the Panthers WR2, but expect WR Dwayne Jarrett to clain that job.

QB2 In Chicago?

It looks like the current QB2 for the Bears is Brian Griese, who is ahead of QB Kyle Orton in camp thusfar.

Patriots IR RB

The Patriots have placed RB Justise Hairston on the IR, ending his season.

Raiders Sign QB

The Raiders have signed QB Daunte Culpepper to a one year contract. He is in a dogfight between QBs Josh McCown and Andrew Walter for the QB1 job for a few weeks until QB JaMarcus Russell is ready to start. If Culpepper does not win the QB1 job, his value in the NFL and in fantasy leagues will be zero.

Titans Sign WR

The Titans have signed WR Eric Moulds to a one year contract. In the weak WR field of the Titans, Moulds could become an instant starter and have some decent fantasy value.

In an ever changing RB merry go round, the Broncos are currently running RB Travis Henry at RB1, RB Cecil Sapp at RB 2, and RB Mike Bell at RB3. This is sure to change numerous times over the next month.

Portis Owners Beware

Clinton Portis' season is starting like his '06 season ended... with tendonitis in his knee. Proceed with caution in regards to Portis' as this looks like it could be a chronic problem.
